The Unique Origin Of Larimar Jewelry

Anyone who owns Larimar jewelry would like to know how the jewelry is being made. Well, it is important to understand that the ornament comes from a rock called Larimar hence the name Larimar jewelry. Larimar rock is only being found in the Dominican Republic, a country in the Caribbean.

The rock has a blue coloration making it quite unique in comparison to other rocks. Dominican Republic is famous for the mining of this rare Rock.

The kind of jewelry made out of this rock is usually highly regarded. Most ornaments from this rock is usually set in silver but there are also other colors. White is regarded as the lowest in quality. There are also green and other ornaments that come in red spots. One can therefore purchase a grade depending on their financial ability to do so.

The ornament comes in different forms ranging from earrings to pendants just to mention but a few. Jewelry made out of this rock should be well taken care of by their owners because of coloration. The rocks coloration occurs due to oxidation. The oxidation occurs when natural light strikes the blue color on the rock when it is on a white surface. This ornaments should therefore not be placed on any white surface.

In the Dominican Republican, the ornaments made from this rock is not as costly as they are in other countries. This is because the rocks are found easily due to the fact they are locally mined. In fact, the ornament is handmade along the streets of the cities of Dominican Republic making them readily available to anyone in the country who is interested in ornaments.

This is not the case when the it gets to other country. Once they are exported to other countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and other countries, they are sold out at exorbitant prices. Usually it is only the population of the rich that can afford this kind of accessories abroad.

This is a rare kind of rock and therefore ornaments made out of this rock is also regarded rare. The only other rocks that are comparable to this kind of rock are perhaps pearl, gold, and the likes. It is not really clear on how the people in the Dominican Republic get to mine the rocks, of course there are regulations that have been set to ensure that the rock is not over exploited to the point that it gets to become non-existent. The government has put in measures to ensure the regulations are adhered to.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
